Smart Citizen Education for a Green Future
Skill Cards for the different Modules within the ECCDL are being finalized and Trials and partial Courses are given all over Europe, collecting the feedback for the partners. Schools, teachers and Kids are involved in these trials (from using demonstrators, to actively measuring air quality to basic understandings).
About the Project
GreenScent aims to change citizens’ behaviors allowing them to be the ones who act to implement the policies of the European Commission in the context of the Green Deal.
Topic
The behavioral change of citizens through the stimulation of their empathy for social and global issues due to climate change is fundamental for the achievement of the objectives set by GreenScent and, more broadly, by the European Commission in the context of the Green Deal and the achievement, on the part of the European Continent, of Climate Neutrality by 2050.
Project Output
Greenscent Framework in its final version, informed by the results of the activities in phase 2, and complemented by a User Guide (for educators, training providers and corporate human resources), will provide practical information and guidelines for the implementation of Greenscent in programs, education and training.
Use cases: demonstration of how Greenscent has been implemented in the various didactic activities carried out; SCENTBox: a series of physical, digital and hybrid demonstrators, allowing to conduct practical and collaborative experiments in the classroom or involving citizens. Training kits will support teachers to contextualize and implement GreenSCENT demonstrator-based pedagogies in their classrooms and courses.
ECCEL: The Greenscent Certification for Climate and Environmental Literacy: the European climate and environment driving license, will be developed by ECQA – European Certification and Qualification Agency, and will be proposed as a standard as ICDL, to be adopted in training and in the world of work.
A GreenSCENT platform, Mobile app and Augmented reality app, the set of main technologies adopted, developed and evolved during the project, will be available to EU citizens and schools.
The GreenSCENT project is moving toward its final stage with the development of a comprehensive framework, supported by a user guide designed for educators, training providers, and corporate HR teams, to make environmental literacy easier to integrate into programs and learning activities. Demonstrators such as the SCENTBox and practical training kits will allow classrooms and citizens to explore hands-on approaches to climate education, while the ECCEL certification aims to establish a European standard for climate and environmental literacy, similar to other well-recognized qualifications.
In parallel, digital tools like the GreenSCENT platform, mobile applications, and augmented reality features will ensure that these resources are widely accessible across the EU, creating new opportunities for engagement. Just as in other areas of personal decision-making—such as consulting a doctor about Cialis use before making health-related choices—these initiatives highlight the importance of reliable guidance and structured frameworks in helping people act responsibly and with confidence.
